The director's cut. Don't be fooled by the seemingly long playing time, it lasts just over 1.5 hours before the credits start.

The film seems to want a bit more emphasis on magic than martial arts. But due to a lack of action, which isn't particularly excitingly choreographed (Jennifer Garner himself shows very little in that regard, making it more of a series of poses) and a total lack of atmosphere or tension, Elektra is ultimately a fairly skinny, humorless and bloodless work. The beautiful cheekbones of the toned Garner as Elektra or the charisma of Terence Stamp as Stick (I found Scott Glenn as Stick in the Daredevil TV series to be much more impressive by the way) don't help either. The mutual relationships that arise are also not very convincing.

Too bad that the ladies among the superheroes mainly end up in flop films. Supergirl, Elektra and later Catwoman...wasted potential. But a reboot is never far away.

Film that I entered quite blankly as I've never seen Daredevil. Despite the mediocre ratings, I gave it a try, not least because of the delicious Jennifer Garner.

The film starts smoothly and with the first assignment, there is little introduction. Neither does depth or character deepening, something that remains the same throughout the film, except for the unrest that can be seen when she waits for her next assignment. Something that still somewhat gives a picture of a troubled character. However, it is not much and apart from the fact that her mother has been killed, Elektra remains an unknown. The developments surrounding the next assignment are predictable and the gang of hitmen with their deviant and versatile talents reminds me more of an X-Men movie.

Let's be honest, it's not all that bad, but it's not really great either. The film seems to be mainly aimed at portraying Garner's beautiful body and cute face as much as possible. Something that fortunately is also done a lot and as far as I'm concerned the only reason is to see the film at all. Furthermore, the only actor of renown and fame, Terence Stamp, remains by far the camera's reach and, unfortunately, rarely passes by.

Yes, well...for once nice and especially because of Garner.

Elektra a film with a thin story but still enough surprises to appreciate the film positively. The images were beautiful and Jennifer Garner does well in these kinds of roles. Great entertainment, no more, no less.
