The film is set in Vietnam in the 1920s. Anti-French rebels are spreading all over the country. The French colonial administration uses Vietnamese agents to find and kill the rebels. Cuong, an agent working for the French, is sent to assassinate the leader of the opposition. Instead, he falls in love with his daughter. Her patriotism and passion compel Cuong to make a choice between his country and his mission.
