Conan (Momoa) is the last of his people. He saw his father die and is determined to avenge his father. He will kill everyone who was responsible for the death of his people. But he has a very dangerous enemy: the almighty Khalar Sing.

Reasonable.
Having no expectations at all helps when watching this film. I had seen the original with Arnold Schwarzenegger, but actually this film has little to do with the original. They're just mindless action movies: the original still a bit voodoo and cheesy eighties nonsense; this remake is a straight forward adventure heel fest.
And there is little wrong with that. This movie is good enough for what it pretends to be. Jason Momoa can go on as Conan and such a Ron Perlman as the father figure who dies early in the movie can always be added. Stephan Lang is a decent villain.
In addition, the CGI is not too bad and the tempo is high enough to make things move forward (because to my surprise it is a small 2 hours playing time). So a stroke of luck.

Mediocre. Conan the Barbarian is quite an entertaining roller coaster ride at times, and the action sequences look good (and sometimes gruesome). But for the most part, it's a boring and messy affair. Rachel Nichols isn't wrong to look at and stands her ground, and Momoa is already showing her future as an action hero here. But despite all the action scenes and the charismatic protagonists, it all didn't appeal to me

I haven't seen the original, so it's new to me. A lot of men with an excess of testosterone that make for big fights. It is rather rough and the story is very thin. But all in all it's still okay. The figures look like Mad Max versions of the Vikings. And especially some shots are nicely done. Better than expected.
