"A story of legendary bravery"
The year 1205. Norway is torn by civil war. With the help of a shabby band of insurgents called the Birch Legs (Birkebeiner), the Norwegian king fights for survival against the Church and her bishops, who want to triumph at all costs. While the king lies on his deathbed, his only heir is secretly born. A boy who wishes half the kingdom dead, but who will protect two men at any cost. The two Birch legs Skjervald and Torstein embark on a perilous journey through the harsh Norwegian winter landscape to save the two-year-old future king from a terrible fate.
