Masterpiece. A very strong start to the film that immediately captivated me. The middle part remains captivating and the end is downright epic with half an hour of battle.

Epic.

I think Baahubali is actually my first really big and pure Bollywood film that I see. So it took quite a long time. I've seen Indian films before, but none as epic or grand as this one, nor one that really meets the criteria to be a major Bollywood film. Pretty fun for once.

However, it soon became clear that I would not fully appreciate this film, because the dialogues remain too theatrical for me. Very explanatory and old fashioned, no one talks like that in real life. There is also no lack of exaggeration during this film. Many scenes are completely stretched with slow motion and the effects also press his feet hard on the accelerator.

The acting is pretty good, whether it's my thing or not, I can't take away from the passion of the cast. They really go for it and pull out all the stops. The director therefore lends them a helping hand by portraying everything with great pomp and circumstance, giving their characters that little bit extra. Every little bit helps in Baahubali.

Normally I turn away when it gets too theatrical for me, but the epic atmosphere and many events that take place in this film managed to hold my attention easily. It is almost unbelievable how much happens in this film, and that comes to "full force" in the finale, which consists of no less than 30 minutes of bloody war violence.

Baahubali takes a very long time and fills the playing time with a lot of nonsense, but the nonsense can be called entertaining and the direction has a great eye for color and splendour. The film is decorated to the bone with decoration, and that managed to keep me fascinated. The unfortunate thing is that everything is presented to the viewer very exaggerated and retarded, which is sometimes a turn-off. Nice for once, but not a film I will review.

Baahubali: The Beginning is a 2015 epic Indian film directed by S. S. Rajamouli. The film offers a visually spectacular and immersive experience that takes you on a journey through a fantastical world filled with mythical creatures, heroic warriors and ancient kingdoms.

What strikes me most is the beautiful cinematography, striking costumes and compelling music. It is a stunning piece of visual spectacle that captivates the viewer from start to finish. The acting performances of the cast are also fine, especially Prabhas and Rana Daggubati who play the roles of Shiva and Bhallaladeva respectively. Of course, the film is not a Hollywood production and can sometimes be quite over the top in our Western eyes.

In short, Baahubali: The Beginning is a movie not to be missed if you love epic adventures. It is a masterpiece that has taken Indian cinema to new heights and has already become a classic.

4/5
