Really liked it.

But I also understand that this scores a bit lower than the average action film, because this is no longer a real Die Hard film. With some change this could have easily become a normal action movie, maybe it would have scored higher.

True Die Hard fans will be disappointed, because what you get to see here is just action and more action with relatively little story, while the previous parts clearly had more story to offer. That is why it fails and therefore should have been a separate action film.

Willis is funny, Courtney is nice as an action guy and those 2 make a mess again, this time in Russia. The action is top notch, over the top and visually quite beautiful. Some bombastic scenes kept me very fascinated, and since this all lasted 98 minutes, it was quite a pleasure.

The camera work was a bit too nervous for me. He never stands still, and this doesn't add much in the end. Well, the action itself is well portrayed with enough distraction.

I had a good time, although, as I said, this isn't really a Die Hard movie. Still, a fun action movie with good action and lots of action. A few fine twists and then it's pretty successful for me. Entertainment at its best.

Anyone who thought Die Hard 4 was the series' biggest low will no doubt immediately backtrack after seeing the fifth film. Where Die Hard 4 was a fairly interchangeable but somewhat competently made action film, Die Hard 5 is miserable on all fronts. Bruce Willis doesn't bother anymore, I can imagine that there were people on set who had to check during the recording whether he was still alive at all. But also in all the other roles there is not a single figure who keeps things a bit lively. So everything rests on the shoulders of director John Moore, who presents us with the most annoying and sleep-inducing action. The camera shakes wildly and the montage is cut back and forth quickly, so that the viewer is tired of it after a few minutes. On top of that, the script is really unbelievably uninteresting. Well, then you don't have much left.

1.5 stars.

A bit scared to watch this. Don't want Die Hard ruined!
