It is unlikely that Jennifer Lawrence will return to The Hunger Games franchise as the arc of her character, Katniss Everdeen, is over.
There have been four movies produced in the series so far: The Hunger Games, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2.
A prequel, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, will be released worldwide on 17 November 2023.
The new movie features a completely new cast as it is set 64 years before the events of the original Hunger Games. There is, of course, the possibility of a Lawrence return, but only if author Suzanne Collins can provide more material.
"If Suzanne has something to say, then she'll write a book about it," franchise producer Nina Jacobson told Yahoo.
"Honestly, as much as I love Katniss, I think her story is complete. And I think that Suzanne feels that her story is complete.
"But if that changes, and Suzanne has something she wants to say, and it involves Katniss, then I would be thrilled. But really any chance to be back in this world, and lead with Francis (Lawrence, director) and Suzanne, I would take regardless of who it was about."
When asked by Variety if she would like to return as Katniss in the future, Lawrence replied: "Oh, my God – totally! If Katniss ever could ever come back into my life, 100 per cent."
