With The Batman: Part II set to hit screens in 2026, casting news is sure to come soon.
In 2022, the Dark Knight returned to our screens with The Batman, which was and still is intended to be the first movie in a trilogy. It was written and directed by Matt Reeves, with Robert Pattinson playing Bruce Wayne, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Paul Dano as Riddler, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman and Colin Farrell as Penguin.
It was a critical and commercial success, earning $772 million at the box office. It may not have hit the billion-dollar mark, but that can be attributed to the Covid pandemic.
Fans and critics were impressed with how dark Reeves' vision for the movie proved to be.
A sequel was announced in April of 2022, while in January of 2023 the title was announced, simply The Batman: Part II.
There have been new character or casting confirmations as of yet, but Medium now reports that Boyd Holbrook is being eyed to play Harvey Dent/ Two-Face, who was previously portrayed by Billy Dee Williams, Tommy Lee Jones and Aaron Eckhart.
The Batman: Part II delayed
The Batman: Part II was originally set to be released in October of 2025, but the actor and writer strikes in Hollywood have led to a delay by a year, with the release now coming in 2026.
That is allegedly how Holbrook became available, as he was previously ruled out of the running to play Two-Face due to commitments to James Mangold’s A Complete Unknown and Andrew Levitas’ Last Meals.
Jeffrey Wright recently revealed that the actors haven't even seen a script yet.
When asked by Deadline if he is returning as Commissioner Gordon, Wright replied: "That's the plan. I haven't read the script yet, but that's the plan."
