Limitless plot

"What if a pill could make you rich and powerful?"

Aspiring author Eddie Morra (Bradley Cooper) suffers from a chronic lack of inspiration. When an old friend gives him NZT, a revolutionary new pharmaceutical, he is able to use his entire brain capacity. Eddie can remember everything he's ever read, seen or heard, learn any language in a day, and understand complex equations as long as he continues to take the untested drug. The drug soon brings financial and social success and magnate Carl van Loon (Robert de Niro) invites him to set up the largest merger in history. But Eddie is also interested in people who will do anything to get their hands on the NZT.

The image presented here of intelligence is naive. Someone who is highly intelligent will not suddenly make millions in the stock market. He will not suddenly be able to box well because he has seen boxing on TV. He won't remember any information he never consciously stored. He will not suddenly be able to write his book at lightning speed as if it were automatic; on the contrary, he will think more deeply and longer. His book will not be recognized as a masterpiece by an editor who has read it for one day. People will not immediately recognize and admire him, but consider him a know-it-all and stand by their own accord. He will not suddenly be offered all kinds of jobs. Intelligence does not immediately have so many practical benefits. He would be seen as a threat by some people, possibly even hated.

This is still a very good movie. Seen for the 2nd time and again surprised by the nice plot twists and surprises. Definitely worth checking out if you've never seen this movie. A bit 'fantasy', but that's fun.

I think I'll keep the 0.50 cent DVD in my collection. It's too good for that. Although you can find this film everywhere at flea markets and thrift stores.

Not bad movie. The pace is good, the idea is nice but there are many flaws in the film. Eddie asks a factory to make his pills, then we don't see anything left? Why do you want to work for someone as a brilliant person, you can do it much better yourself? You're going to live in a bunker because you're being threatened, why don't you go into hiding or go to a foreign/unknown location?
