'The series is based on the story of the Captain, a North Vietnam plant in the South Vietnam army. He is forced to flee to the United States with his general near the end of the Vietnam War. While living within a community of South Vietnamese refugees, he continues to secretly spy on the community and report back to the Viet Cong, struggling between his original loyalties and his new life.'
Perhaps the most intriguing thing we've learned from the first two trailers is that Downey Jr. will get to flex his acting muscles by playing a variety of different antagonists.
It is directed by legendary South Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook who revealed that Downey Jr would often improvise on a lot of the material.
“First of all, he is very delightful and pleasant character, with a personality that really lights up the entire set and makes everyone happy to be there and having such an enjoyable experience,” Park said of the Academy Award nominee.
“He remembers every single crew member and all the background actors. He really is friendly with all of them and gives them each a good pat on the back after their performances. He’s so encouraging to everyone.
“With every setup and every take, (Robert) improvises dialogue every single time that’s incredibly witty and stems from something really deep from the character itself. For me, choosing which take to go with will really (be) the biggest problem that I have as a creator working with him.”
