Avatar: The Last Airbender plot
Human civilization is divided into four separate nations, named after the elements: the Air Nomads, the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation, and the Water Tribe. In each nation, only a few people, the "benders", can use their nation's element through regional martial arts and telekinetic powers. The only user who can use all four elements is the Avatar. After a hundred years of sleep, Aang, the newest Avatar of the Air Nomads, is awakened by Katara and Sokka of the Water Tribe. Aang hears about the world-destroying war the Fire Nation has started. With the help of his new friends, Aang must master the skills of the elements to bring harmony to the nations.

There is quite a bit of the film in it, so it looks a bit familiar at times, but that certainly doesn't make it any less fun to watch. I especially think Aang and Katara's acting is great and they really make the series. The rest is also fine except for Princess Azula. How poorly he plays, they could have cast him better for the power rangers or something. Without her I would have given a higher grade. But all in all a very nice series, can't wait for the sequel.

I had never watched previous versions of Avatar so I don't know anything about it. As a result, I went into it completely blank and finished the series in one day (flu). And I was really positively surprised by the story, the characters and the game. If there is one small point of criticism, it is that every now and then I had the feeling that I had missed a piece.
But from other comments I gather that some cuts have been made to the original version to cram everything into 8 hours.
Bring on seasons 2 and 3, and there will probably be another flu wave.

Is it even possible to make a decent live action version of the original series? Unfortunately, hope quickly faded with this version as well.
The strength of the original lies in a strong and mature story interspersed with young-spirited lightheartedness and adventures. Despite its identical playing time (8 hours per book), this version chooses to omit the adventures and humor - thus some form of lightness. Then there is more time to develop the story, you would say. Unfortunately, it fails miserably in that regard. It closely follows the original thread and develops it in an equally childish way (as, for example, romances between characters blossom and then die out in 2 scenes). It just doesn't work.
The wisdom of Iroh, the humor of Sokka and the inner struggle of Aang, some examples that are much better reflected in the children's series. That is very painful. Topped off with mediocre casting, dialogues and excessive CGI, it makes it very difficult to watch the series at all.
Even my enormous sentiment cannot save this version... too bad.
