Matthew Lillard is hoping to return for many more sequels to Five Nights at Freddy's.
The 2023 horror movie received mixed reviews from critics but was a surprise hit at the box office, earning $293 million at the box office to become Blumhouse's most successful movie ever.
Based on the video game series of the same name, the official premise reads:
'Mike Schmidt, a troubled security guard, accepts a night-time job at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, a once-successful but now abandoned family entertainment center, where he discovers its four animatronic mascots – Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy – move and kill anyone that is still there after midnight.'
It starred Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, Mary Stuart Masterson, and Lillard.
The Scream and Scooby-Doo star, who played the villain Steve Raglan / William Afton, wants to return in more movies to solidify his status as the 'Voldemort' of the franchise, in reference to Harry Potter's arch nemesis.
"I'm pretty thrilled right now being part of a new franchise," Lillard told EW. "I'm hoping that we get to do a bunch of these and, if I'm the Voldemort, that means I'll always be in it."
Five Nights at Freddy's sequel
Director Emma Tammi previously said the entire crew are keen to return, and hopes to address some loose ends from the first movie.
"We have some loose ends that I think are going to have to come back in a sequel to be tied up," Tammi previously told The Hollywood Reporter.
"I feel like that could also be a nice thing for the fan base to mull over. We're all, including myself, very excited to keep making movies in this universe if we're lucky enough to do so and this first one does well,"
