Elizabeth Olsen has explained how there was one particular scene in her appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that was "embarrassing" to film.
The actress has appeared in numerous MCU projects as Wanda Maximoff / Scarlett Witch, including the character's own television series on Disney +, Wanda Vision.
By the events of Avengers: Infinity War, Wanda is in a relationship with Vision, played by Paul Bettany. At the conclusion of that movie, Vision dies after Thanos removes an Infinity Stone from his dead, despite Wanda's desperate attempts to save her love.
It proved a tough scene for Olsen and Bettany.
"So, it’s very embarrassing shooting those kinds of things, because, like, the world depends on you doing it," she told Variety.
"And we did some improvising, which is hard to improvise those moments. But it also felt good, because at that point, Paul and I really had each other’s back. It was one of the last things we shot. I felt really comfortable with him as an actor if we had to improvise that beat a little bit. We were trying to find it, with the Russos guiding us.Josh
When pressed as to why exactly it was embarrassing, she replied:
"Because you’re like — . Ugh, I’m doing this in public. But you have one hand out that’s stopping something with energy. And then you’ve got another hand that’s extracting this fake thing from this dotted face. And it’s painful and emotional."
Will Olsen return as Scarlett Witch?
Though the character of Scarlett Witch appeared to have died in the events of Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, Marvel executive Kevin Fiege has suggested that the death was not confirmed, which has led to speculation that Olsen could return in the MCU at some point.
However, she is not aware of any plans as of yet.
“I don’t think any of these characters are ever really gone," she explained.
"I really don’t know my future. There’s nothing that has been agreed on.”
Olsen did mention that it would be cathartic to see Wanda achieve some kind of redemption after her villainous outing in the Doctor Strange sequel.
