Rick and Morty has officially been given a spinoff in the form of a new anime series, naturally titled Rick and Morty: The Anime.
The hugely popular Adult Swim show has already been confirmed for a sixth series, and fans will be given an extra fix via the anime series which will air on Adult Swim and stream on HBO Max in the United States, with E4 expected to release in the United Kingdom.
Within the show, Rick is a mentally-unbalanced but scientifically gifted old man who has recently reconnected with his family. He spends most of his time involving his young grandson Morty in dangerous, outlandish adventures throughout space and alternate universes.
The anime series will be directed by Takashi Sano, who previously directed two of Rick and Morty's anime shorts, 'Rick and Morty vs. Genocider' and 'Summer Meets God (Rick Meets Evil)'.
Those two shorts proved to be extremely popular among fans, as on Adult Swim's platforms, they received over 10 million views, which has now resulted in a full anime series being produced.
"The multiverse-straddling exploits of Rick and the gang pose challenges to the family bond, but they always rise to the occasion," Sano said in a statement.
"It's such a life-affirming sight, and Jerry is no exception. I am honoured to have been given an opportunity to tell a new story about this amazing family. I hope you enjoy their adventures!"
Rick and Morty features the voices of Justin Roiland, Chris Parnell, Sarah Chalke and Spencer Grammer.
