Source Code plot

"Make every second count."

Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) wakes up with a jolt on a train bound for Chicago. Although the passengers seem to know him, he has no idea where - or who - he is. Intelligent, beautifully designed, exciting. It contains interesting ideas, sentiment, ethical dilemmas, unexpected twists, romance and action all in 93 minutes. In short, the film offers perfect entertainment for a Saturday night.

Solid.

Smooth and entertaining action film, in which the plot is hardly surprising, but which provides an hour and a half of entertainment. The fact that it is not stretched to the mandatory 2 hours is in this case only to be welcomed. Fortunately too, given the sweet outcome.

Jake Gyllenhaal is doing okay and I also really like the rest of the cast, including Jeffrey Wright and Vera Farmiga, although this isn't the ideal film to show their talent.

Duncan Jones sticks to a typical action in between. There really isn't much more for me to do. It doesn't make me curious about his other films, but that's not necessary.

“Christina, what would you do if you knew you had less than one minute to live?”

Strong and original film. Source Code is a sci-fi like whodunnit, with Colter Stevens constantly living the same situation over and over. He wakes up on a train across from a woman and after a while a bomb explodes, killing Colter and the other passengers. Whenever he dies, a mysterious woman urges him to unmask the culprit, and he wakes up on the train again.

As the film progresses, you learn more and more about the hows and whats, and as a viewer, just like Colter, you go past all the passengers and play a bit of detective yourself. Gyllenhaal is impressive and really carries the film on his shoulders. Michelle Monaghan has great chemistry with Gyllenhaal and the romantic subplot works very well as a result. The ending is a bit far-fetched, but it works within the context of the film. Also because of the phenomenal acting of Gyllenhaal.
