"Some fantasies go too far."
Billionaire, misogynist and art collector Kyle Madford is brutally murdered in the millionaire quarter of San Francisco. In his safe, young assistant to the District Attorney David Corelli finds interesting photos of the governor of California with the luxurious hooker Patrice Jacinto. Through Patrice, Corelli comes on the trail of the mysterious Jade, a kind of expensive SM mistress of the beau monde of San Francisco. However, that trail also leads to Trina Gavin, an old flame of David Corelli.

a typical movie that you put on at night and you have a good time with it, even if it doesn't get high anywhere. the screenplay is quite predictable, but Linda Fiorentino makes it quite watchable, although I personally think the film has remained rather well-behaved with regard to the theme that it concerns, but good. Also nice to see Caruso in a pre-CSI role.

This could have been a very good movie.
Too bad the parallel with Basic Instinct is too easy, and the comparison doesn't turn out in favor of this film. But worse than that, the film doesn't draw its own line - too much a little here, then a little borrowing there. Character, that's what it lacks. Worse than the occasionally hesitating Caruso, or that the cinematography is just not right every now and then. Or that only moderate use is made of the beautiful Fiorentino - pretty much the boss in the femme fatale profession.
Failing direction, that's all I can make of it.

“Trina, the next time we make love, you introduce me to Jade.”
Not bad, but in the end Jade manages to make too little impression. The film does not have a face of its own, and it seems like a mishmash of many films. Basic Instinct mainly, and for the rest Jade looks a lot like the dozen police thrillers that came out in the 80s and 90s. With a touch of eroticism, but it still remains remarkably prudish. Especially with Basic Instinct in mind. A plus is the acting of Caruso, Palminteri and especially Linda Fiorentino, who again manages to put down a nice femme fatale. There is also a very nice car chase, but for the rest Jade brings nothing new under the sun.
