The sidelined actress Maja falls for the London Jewish academic Leah. This one faces a mysterious attack that leads to major health problems. Maja follows her crush to her hometown and meets Leah's mother and neighbor Chana. The secretive and overprotective woman seems reluctant about Maja. Meanwhile, Maja notices strange things in the building.

Just when I felt like some queer horror, it turned out to be queer crap. Boring, not exciting and not interesting. The horror fan remains completely hungry.

Well, mediocre film about Jewish mythology. However, things didn't start badly. The idea behind it is good, but the execution is too weak to call it a really good film. Many will not be able to do much with this.
When Maja meets her future mother-in-law, the welcome is anything but warm. She is ignored and manipulated. Maja feels underlying tension, but just like the viewer, she cannot put her finger on the wound. In between, an uncle introduces her to Jewish myths and folklore.
The film has a twist and turns out differently than expected. Good in itself, but it still felt more like a disappointment. Still, I was quite into the movie, so I wasn't really bored. Grabol is a Danish top actress in a somewhat strange role as a Jewish mother. I couldn't identify with her role 100%, which is a shame.

A fairly simple story, but still quite original for a horror. It's not quite horror horror, but it's still pretty good. I like that it features a queer couple where it's not an issue that they're a queer couple. Nice to see Ellie Kendrick again after her role as Anne Frank.
